June 6, 2020 - This one didn't make it, cap'n. [Bugle plays.] Pour her out, and let's remember what she once was.

May 30, 2017 - Best it's ever been. Drank with wild-boar-sausage pasta. Had worried this might be too late, but in retrospect it seemed possible we drank it too early. It means I misunderstood the earlier bottles, which now seem to have been infanticides I committed unwittingly.

November 19, 2015 - Plums-- first red, then purple-- sour cherries, and a hint of something extra. Grapefruit? Cranberry? Black pepper? It keeps changing. Compulsively drinkable yet serious. For fans of Spatburgunder, Blaufrankisch, and the darker side of Cru Beaujolais. Also, a stealthy Thanksgiving choice.

August 7, 2015 - Out of magnum. 88/89. Decanted an hour before. Even so, it was best three hours later, and honestly I wish I'd opened it five to seven hours earlier. Served with light chill, which I recommend.

Light to medium body, with strong medium tannins. Great bones. Nose hinted at tobacco and earth-funk; cherries beneath. Seemed like a lighter & more floral (violet gum?) syrah, at moments. Will age very well. No need to drink this before 2020, I'd say, but if you do, decant early!

Served with Biba's mortadella-laced meatloaf. Close to a good pairing, but not perfect -- this wasn't quite as light a wine as I'd remembered....

January 15, 2015 - Awesome - love this. Tart cherry on day one with a slight funk (just right). Day 2 acidity had mellowed a bit and wine had silky mouthfeel along with slightly crunchy texture. Great easy drinking with a lot of interest.
