  November 23, 2019 - Domaine Merkouri Belvedere & Chortais Dessert Wines Vertical Tastings (Domaine Merkouri): The wine is a blend of 55% Mavrodaphne and 45% Corinthian raisin. The grapes are sundried for 10 days, the fermentation is stopped with alcohol, 1500 bottles total production, 15% alcohol, 115gr/lt RS, pH 3.7, total acidity 5.7g/lt
  
  The wine feels brighter in the nose, feels fresher and younger for its age, fresh ripe currant, cherry, a few herbal notes, earthy notes, a few chocolate ntoes.
  In the palate, the wine shows chocolate, black currant, berries, again fresh character, alcohol in balance compared to younger vintages tried before, coffee notes, sweet palate, nice tannins, medium acidity, full body and long finish.
  Outstanding quality, best wine of the line up for me.

  December 25, 2015 - Dark almost black. Marvellous nose of blackberries, raisins, figs, prunes, chocolate, then hints of herbaceousness such as laurel and tobacco as well as ripe sweet oranges. Full body bordering on treacle consistency. Palate reflecting the nose with thankfully some citrusy acidity to cut through the rich full weighty sweetness. The thing I love with this wine is the bitterness on the finish which lifts this above many other sweet mavrodaphnes.
