September 20, 2017 - A very nice medium body California chardonnay. Good nose with nice fruit that included a hint of vanilla. Good long finish with a touch of minerality.

May 19, 2017 - Lovely balanced Chardonnay. Drank with a mushroom scallop dish. Sift but still tasted the acid. Good pairing. H

May 7, 2015 - At J & A's. Light straw colored. Elegant and creamy, old school pear and apple/no tropics, highly acceptable but a tad lighter-bodied than expected for the vintage.

October 9, 2014 - Six nations tasting (Pyrmont): peach fruit, slight butter notes on the noseā€¦.initial spritz on the palate, then the wine is quite tangy with alcohol warmth intruding on the long finish. Hmm.

September 2, 2014 - This straw-colored Chardonnay offers attractive aromas of green apples, lime, pear and spice. Light-to-medium-bodied, freshly acidic, lightly oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.1%), it serves up tart apple, ginger and lemon curd on the palate, flavors which persist nicely through the middle as well as through the medium-length, crisp finish. Trefethen's vineyards are in the southern Napa Valley's Oak Knoll district, which is a very favorable location for growing Chardonnay. The marine-influenced climate is cooler than more northerly locations in the Valley, and the loamy soils are well-drained. Commentary regarding the lack of capability for Chardonnay from these vineyards is simply not accurate. Drink now-2019.
