Community Tasting Notes 4

April 4, 2017 - FWS Rhone Class (La Caille): 100% Syrah, 20% New Oak from Granite soils

Red and black fruits show through, Raspberry, Cherry and Plum. Also shows some background flavors of blood, and charcuterie

Nice wine which was a good value, very clean, did not show the obvious Brett. Great example of what Northern Rhone, but lacking the depth that you often get from Cote Rotie, Hermitage or even Cornas... I think you can find better values for the money...

June 24, 2012 - Dark ruby with aromas of green pepper, radishes and black plumbs. Good acidity and fruit as well as mineral back bone. Medium bodied with softened tannins and good balance except for a bit heat with food. Dark fruit and spices taste. I do not think that it should be kept more than 2-3 years more as it is ready and I think it will start to decline in 2-3 years. BTW, on Jaboulet's website, the recommended window for this wine is 6-15 years http://www.jaboulet.com/Website/site/eng_lesgammes_lesdomaines_domainederourerouge_description.htm

July 17, 2011 - Currant, plum, violet on nose. Currant and coffee on the palate. Finishes too bitter to my liking. Just OK.

November 20, 2009 - the nose of this wine was nice, but everything after that was mediocre at best. i'm sure i could have left this in the cellar for years...and maybe it would have increased in power and finesse, but wow...what a disappointment. VERY thin wine that lacked any sort of punch or character. very disappointing.

(Paul Jaboulet Raymond Roure Crozes Hermitage) #2; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-earthy; soil action; a little creaminess coming through; a raspberry torte; some black pepper as well; PALATE-mellow; nice structure and backbone; very polished and silky; a really long finish; well made, but a little hollow on the mid-palate; lacks the structure I look for; quite thin; not really feeling this wine; JR-92; GV-85
