March 1, 2024 - 11/12, good cork. Decanted and immediately served at c15C.
Deep ruby core, pale ruby/garnet rim. Nose is initially a little bit reticent but opens slowly as the wine warms to reveal fresh red and black berry fruit, black olive, bacon notes. Becoming quite aromatic. On the palate this is no more than medium bodied, it has a bright initial attack - red and black berries, savoury bacon, some notes of blood too, spice, fully resolved tannins - it is quite lithe and has vibrant, almost crisp acidity which carries good length, harmonious finish where the black olive comes back in again. This has aged well - now and next 3-5 years.

January 29, 2024 - Had thrown quite a heavy sediment, so decanted.
    Very deep ruby.
Loads and loads of ripe black fruit with a curious blast of licorice, and hints of cough syrup, grilled bacon and violets.
Quite a thrilling attack that made my eyes open widely and a slight shiver went down my spine. Very open, very full, yet also very poised and elegant. A really seductive wine. Red and black fruit fill the mouth, with very soft tannins now. A lovely savouriness, alongside the fruit. What an absolutely stunning glass of wine.

October 23, 2023 - Tasted blind. Huge nose of ripe purple fruit, bacon and horse manure (in a good way). Fat palate with ample acidity, quite supple. I did guess Cote Rotie and 2004, but initially went for Rostaing. Delicious.

August 14, 2023 - Agree with David Cooper, and can’t improve on his review. Terrific bottle of wine, surely at peak now.

December 2, 2022 - My bottle. Quoting my friend Cooper: Medium dark red. Great mid weight nose, everything I love in a Northern Rhone, cherry, barnyard, olives, smoked meat and thyme nose. Olive brine and red fruit flavours and a dry herbal finish.

    I'll add: Outstanding.
