April 30, 2024 - In a blind tasting I "identified" this wine as Veronique's 2010 Clos de Mouches. I was properly stunned when I learned the source. Malconsorts? Really? No Vosne spices that we love, just a lot of smoke/cola/leather/sweet notes that I always find in any top Cote de Beaune wines.
Clos de Mouches on steroids, not worth the money.
I've been told that you have to wait 25 years to let the Malconsorts shine. Maybe. Not my experience. But I rather go with Dujac's or Bichot's versions of 2012 now. Cathiard's wine is much truer to the character, but not affordable anymore...

April 13, 2024 - Dark, deep, but delicate nose with dark but not overripe fruit, pleasantly distant smoke, and some floral notes. Balanced in the mouth: at once generous and light. Tannins beginning to resolve, there’s a gentle roughness. A medium long finish. Delicious.

June 13, 2023 - Good wine for sure but also still in a closed buttoned down sort of way phase that struggles to deliver at this stage. Touch one dimensional and not sure if this at this stage could benefit from some decanting much to the anathema of the purists. Not better at this stage than a 92

March 21, 2023 - Burgs and Cassoulet on a Cold and Rainy Spring Evening (Sta. Rita Hills, CA): In somewhat of an awkward place, a bit monolithic despite several hours of aeration. I can see the quality here, rich and concentrated. There was ripe red berry notes, some smoke and a robust texture. Not a style to which I am drawn to be honest, but if I am lucky enough to revisit I would happily reevaluate.

May 10, 2017 - GMs - Kevin Burgundy Dinner: Blind. Gunpowder, spice, oak, light herbs and earth as well. The palate shows immense structure, the powerful fruit hiding behind slightly at the moment. Tight and very young, this needs a significant amount of time to stretch out and show what its got.
