July 31, 2022 - At 14 years of age, this wine has acquired exactly the right color: amber at the rim, mahogany at the middle, and dark brown at the core. Aromas of tar, tea, tobacco, and sweet cherry just jumps at the nose, after an hour or so in the glass/decanter intriguing notes of coffee and malted sugar emerges. Full bodied, velvety attack on the first part of the tasting curve, amazingly rounded tannins at the mid part combined with a very fine acidity. The finish explodes with clean cherry fruit, while the long aftertaste complements the fruit with notes of tar, asphalt and dry earth. Although the main impression is quite powerful, the wine is very restrained for a Barolo. If I dare say it, it is almost feminine. It is a pity that the current prices from this producer almost makes the wines prohibitively expensive for the most of us. For those of having some bottles of this vintage left, no hurry. This will keep for a decade or more, but I guess it is at the apex right now. Wonderful.

March 5, 2022 - Well i was really curious on this Barolo as it was one of the first bottles of that age to try out. I opened the bottle at 3 pm and poured some in my Zalto Burgundy glass to see how it did over 2 hours , and it seemed to improve somewhat.
So when i had my dinner at around 6 pm i went straight from the bottle and it was really nice...but then it seemed to me as it open up more s i quickly decided to decant the bottle and go from there. It wa no bad decision as it improved-
Can only say that the wine does best with food , without food its still good , and there is notes of some sweet tobacco , strawberries , rhubarb and these goes on to the palate as well. But i have to say that i was expecting more---- why is that , because i had an Roagna e la Pira 2004 maybe in 2006 , and it was really really great , each snif and taste brought out an ever ending cascade of notes i think that wine might have been a 100 point. This current version as i have it now is no way near the 2004. So i just want to give my view , and i think it does benefit from being decanted , yes the 2008 version.

February 5, 2021 - One of the most tarry Barolos I've had the pleasure of encountering - full-on phenolic coal tar on the nose at first! The nose mellows into underbrush and the sickly sweet scent of tobacco. On the palate there's sharp, barely ripe fruit behind the smoky tar - cranberry, rhubarb, and the tannin giving the impression of black tea. Very bright and pure, and ready to drink without any decant.

April 13, 2020 - Good, but did not wowed me, perhaps as it was a touch too forward then expected.
Medium garnet colour, forest floor, smoke, tar, tobacco very little fruit, conserved fruit, red cherry.
On the palate acidity still pretty high, medium + tannins but well integrated, not intrusive at all, medium body and here the wine was bit more fruity, that red fruit really came to the fore.Very pleasant indeed, even to drink on his own.
Somehow I thought it missed something to make it great.
I popped and poured then decided it needed some time , gave it 45 mins in the decanter and it improved.

February 21, 2020 - Dekantert 4 timer. Nydelig fra første glass. Selv om her er litt høy syre, er dette det jeg vil en Burgund skal være. Ja, det er en barolo!
