August 7, 2019 - Drinking very well. Lots of dark fruit. Very smooth. No heat with good acidity. Given the weight of the wine it likely has a drinking window beyond 2020 but excellent now.

June 10, 2019 - Nice wine. Lots of black fruit. Did well together with lamb barbecue.

April 30, 2019 - Tasted over two days, best on day 1: Needs a little bit of air, then completely open for business; full of joyful Grenache-fruit, quite rich in texture, some alcohol - like the 2011's can be. Rough tannins. Will keep, but it is quite spicy and enjoyable at this young stag; not really sure where this is going, 2011 remains tricky ...

January 18, 2018 - Brookie and I had this bottle at The Oven with Indian food, which was a great pairing. I read a number of professional and amateur reviews, including those here before writing this, and I somewhat disagree with what has been previously said in a few respects. I drink a lot of Gigondas, I have been to Gigondas, and I have a lot of Gigondas in my cellar. Take that for what it's worth. I thought this bottle was very good, but I didn't think it was traditional or particularly representative of the AOC as a whole. I didn't get the typical raspberry or garrigue notes. I have never thought I was a super taster, so maybe others are picking up things I didn't, but I know what I am looking for in this type of bottle, and if tasted blind, I would have thought this was a $100 bottle of Napa cab.
Probably non-Gigondas drinkers will like this bottle a lot more than I did, because the fruit is great, and it's red and black fruit will be more of a crowd pleaser than an older style bottle. Will pair well with steak, roast, barbecue.
Very fruit forward, balanced, good acid, very nice finish. Begins to show after an hour decant. I would recommend giving this bottle two more years in the cellar and trying again. No need to hurry, but if you must drink one now, give it a minimum hour decant. Santa Duc, is consistently a great producer and collectors of Southern Rhone wines should have a few bottles on hand, along with St. Cosme and St. Damien. -

November 5, 2016 - Intense. Fruits rouges et noirs, épices, muscade, poivre, violette. Plein en bouche, équilibré, avec des tanins qui continueront de s'assouplir sur quelques années. Excellent maintenant mais sûrement encore meilleur dans 2-3 ans.
