December 25, 2015 - Still quite a good colour but there is some bricking at the rim and there is a slightly dull hue to the claret/purple colour (surprisingly dull considering the acidity).
There is a strong leafiness to the nose, pleasing to me, but I understand others would not appreciate it. There is lovely sweet blackcurrant & cherry fruit in able support and the faintest of meatiness behind that.
On the palate the fruit isn't overbearing and carries that same balance with the more savoury green pepper / leafiness. Acidity is quite tangy and just avoiding being too assertive. Slightly short finish that reveals a little woodiness at the end.
Overall a pleasing but definitely not showy wine. -

February 21, 2013 - I can't say I disagree terribly with all the reviews but I do believe mid to upper 80s is about right on the rating today. The bottles were definitely not turned, but the aging hasn't helped lately. If you have any of theses, I would drink them now. Mine were correctly stored in a temp/humidity controlled cellar. Strong Merlot fruit for sure but they also had quite a peppery finish as well. Fortunately, we did drink them with a hearty meal so they were enjoyed by all.

February 4, 2011 - My last bottle of this controversial wine (WS: 90, RP: 77). Sombre, mature colour; lovely Merlot-fruit, cherries, slightly buttery, but also a clear minerally touch; refreshing acidity and typical 1994-tannins, but avoids dryness; good length, dried fruit, bitters. As always the truth is somehwere in the middle; a good expression of vintage and terroir (sables) - and this defines its limits. Drink now.
