    December 11, 2022 - [Opened at Vincent's Market Bistro]
Earthy sous bois, perfumed red fruit, salinity and ocean air, thyme, dark fruit on nose. Still very primary on the palate, long dry fruit extract finish. Pronounced intensity of dark red fruit, pomegranate, black cherry, red and black currant, some brambly notes, crushed rocks, slight kirsch and licorice, slight earthy tobacco. A pretty big wine, with firm tannins, but not intrusive in any way. This can age for much longer, but quite pleasant today. Continued to open throughout the night. 94+

April 5, 2021 - Very generous and approachable on pop n pour. This wine has never shut down and unlike many 2012s is joyous at this early stage. Spice filled akin to Vosne with texture closer to Chambolle. Perfect balance so it should drink well for a couple more decades.

August 2, 2020 - Night 1: The nose has notes of bright red fruit - cherries and perhaps a hint of strawberries. There is a sweetness to the fruit. There is also almost a savory element that almost splits the line between herbs and pepper. The palate is linear and framed with a bright, integrated acidity. Like the nose, the fruit is bright red cherries. There is also a floral element. The wine is relatively tannic for a Burgundy and concentrated - mouth coating. Definitely primary but enjoyable. It has a long life ahead of it.

Night 2: similar to the first night but certainly more open. The palate is still linear but the fruit is more visible and delineated. If you opened it now, I would decant it and give it lots of air.

December 7, 2016 - Rieslings & Pinots (Sun Wah BBQ, Chicago IL): Nose: While the nose is wound up a bit tight, it does show off dark red cherries, earth tones, violets, licorice, cranberries, tobacco, raspberries, with a touch of oak surrounding it.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ acidity and high tannins. The structure is extremely youthful with the tannins having some real grip to them. Beneath the structure does lie a top class feel backed up with dark red cherries, earth tones, violets, cranberries, raspberries, tobacco notes, and some oak as well.

Overall: This is a terribly young Clos Vougeot. All of the parts are there for this to be a fantastic wine, but they are years away from fully coming together. This likely needs the better part of a decade to start to show itself, but it certainly feels like patience will be greatly rewarded.

December 7, 2016 - Popped and poured. Surprisingly this showed amazingly well, with generous, rich and concentrated fruit and an open-knit texture on the palate. Nose is full with lots of concentrated and red and black fruits with some non-delineated earth and barrel tones. Palate had a similar taste profile. I suppose this will shut down at some point in time, but this particular bottle was open-for-business and fun to drink, though certainly primary.
