Community Tasting Notes 7

October 28, 2018 - Popped and poured. Ruby hue. Nose of raspberry, cherry pits, damp cellar, stone. Light-bodied with lacy, candied cherry fruit on the palate at first but with an hour of air the wine filled out and deepened, yielding layers of authoritative mulberry and raspberry undergirded by stone and iron notes, along with a bit of sauvage. Nicely acidic with still-firm tannin. Moderately long finish of crunchy red fruit and stone. Ultimately a very good showing.

August 7, 2010 - Some earth funk and cherry fruit on the nose. Shows much fruitier than the '97 at this point. More concentrated-candied red fruit. Not too much, but it's there and makes this slightly less appealing than the '97 right now. Tart acidity does keep it light on its feet. Very nice.

December 21, 2009 - Brickish color and leathery, furniture-polish type scents combined with something a little earthier, almost cave-like, but once you taste the wine it still has a lot of youthful gloss and doesn't show much tertiary character. It starts out with a light spritz that fortunately K.O.'s itself with a little decanting, leaving a dense, slick wine with a lot of glycerine to it that left me craving some more dimension and plushness.

May 3, 2009 - This is a full, lush Pinot with a great start and finish. Every bottle has been excellent.

December 7, 2008 - Arcadian in the OC with Joe Davis (Jim Dietz's): Earty funk component. Over whelming citrus on the palate with a touch of red fruits. Fat feel in the midpalate none the less. Not enough fruit to balance the acidity for me.
