July 11, 2020 - 3 hr decant. Sickly sweet, another hour needed. Post that a jam of sweet ripe fruits with no real balance. At 13.5% you wouldn’t think over extracted, but it certainly feels that way. Pass.

July 16, 2015 - Slightly translucent crimson colour, light for a Shiraz, relatively heavy and slow legs; lightly spiced nose with some menthol and woody notes; ripe sweet tannins and rich dark berry fruits immediately on the palate, full-bodied with medium acidity; excellent mouthfeel and a long finish. Should definitely age well with great primary fruit flavours and excellent balance, but also drinking very well now. A great Heathcote Shiraz.

January 17, 2015 - Hunter Valley - 6 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley): {screwcap, 13.5%} Any 2012 shiraz from Tyrrell’s isn’t going to come from the Hunter. I had a recollection this used to be a brute of a style; this is quite polished. Sweet strawberry and chocolate nose. Lots of rich mid-palate fruit. Medium oak, medium acid; it’s medium/full-bodied, ripe but not over the top. The name’s a bit out of character really.

October 3, 2014 - Initially quite reductive, black berry and currant, sweet spice, cream vanilla, oak, spice - a certain dusty quality, touches of even coconut. In the mouth there is chewy blackberry fruit, tight, despite double decant and plentiful agitation it still needs time. Vanilla and cream begins to evince with time.
