December 23, 2022 - Singing. Quite awake and right in the zone. This was one of the top 5 wines of the night for me. Typically benefitting from extended cellaring, this Martinelli is no exception to that rule. Full bodied dirty red raspberry, medicinal, chalky, flinty, yet at the same time so robust, round and mouth coating. This one IMO has kind of reached a nuclear plateau. I can see this one staying where it is for at least another 5-7 years. Although I don't think it's certainly going to get any BETTER, and SHOULD be consumed sooner vs. later, this one definitely shouldn't be on your 30-day consume list because there is really no rush at all to pop this one.

August 16, 2022 - Purchased at the vineyard and cellared since.
Juicy and delicious red fruit with a little mineral and menthol on the periphery. Soft and ripe tannins give it some strength.
Recorked and tasted 2 days later and it was still in good shape.

January 25, 2022 - Dark red fruits - raspberry, strawberry, spice. Great match for salmon. Good acidity and a long finish.

May 29, 2021 - Slo-oxed for 30 minutes, and a bit more is OK. There was red fruit, earth and some spice on the nose. The medium bodied palate showed some bright red fruit, more dark red fruits, spice and a bit of pepper, along with a dose of earth. The acidity was relatively balanced and there was no hint of the 15.5% abv. May hold for a while, but drink up now for maximum enjoyment.

  • Thief Does not like this wine: 87 points

April 9, 2021 - Very hot, high alcohol. Nose was a bit funky upon opening with earthy tones and stewed fruit. After breathing for 1 hour, some black cherry and vanilla emerged. Not balanced, with alcohol dominating the fruit, and sweetness more than acid. Has lost its freshness. Drink now, and or share with someone who likes huge hot fruit bomb wines.
