Community Tasting Notes 5

  • Alpton Does not like this wine: 82 points

February 22, 2015 - Very Grenache driven nose, showing strawberry, some herbs and alcohol. The palate is smooth with blueberry notes, pepper and a lot of heat. Straightforward wine, no wonder it's sold in BiB too.

February 16, 2015 - Translucent ruby in color, this wine shows aromas of black cassis, kirsch and garrigue. The mouth feel brought subtle sweet tannins along with spices and black anise. The finish is medium bodied with more dark fruits and forest floor coming out.

Purchased for $14US, this is an enjoyable offering that shows its sense of place very well.

Imported by Kysela Pere et fils LTD., Winchester, VA

November 15, 2014 - This was OK and a food-friendly Cotes du Rhone, with decent fruit and some depth. This bottle at least lags behind the 2010, which probably is true for the vintage as a whole. Will see what the remaining bottles of this 2012 Grand Veneur have in store.

November 5, 2014 - Mushrooms on the nose that are wonderful with forest decay
No oak - really nice easy fruit. Goes really good with the lamb

August 7, 2014 - Did not decant. Lively, with good fruit, some acidity and pleasant tannins. Medium-bodied. Good CdR qualities. I'd buy it again.
