May 30, 2020 - Very nice Sardinian Grenache.
It had everything that I expected: nice fruit, light structure, easy drinking, little tannin, not terribly long finish. Probably near its peak right now.
Drinking very well. Would buy again.

February 25, 2018 - Clearly ready, maybe starting on downslope. Barnyard and must at first, followed by mellow black fruit and full mouth of rhubarb and blackberries.

February 24, 2018 - Aged for 2 years in Slavonian oak. 14% alcohol.

Translucent pomegranate color with a subtly maroon hue. Very juicy and sweet nose with rich aromas of strawberry jam, some minty VA, a little bit of very ripe plum and a vague sweet whiff of cooked root vegetables. The wine is full-bodied, rich and very ripe on the palate with flavors of sweet dark berries, some exotic spice, a little bit of almost overripe plummy fruits, a hint of strawberry and a touch of licorice. The alcohol lends a moderately warming touch to the palate. The wine is more about richness and ripe fruit than about structure, as the acidity feels medium to moderate and the medium tannins are quite ripe and mellow, giving only a light grip to the palate. The finish is warm, somewhat spicy and lightly grippy with rich and lengthy flavors of sunny dark fruits, sweet strawberries, some licorice and a hint of blackberry marmalade.

A nice, smooth and soft Grenache with a lot of ripe and sweet red fruit. Overall the wine is stylistically much closer to the softer and rounder Grenache-driven wines of Rhône than to the more savory and concentrated Garnachas of Catalonia. This softness and ripeness makes this wine an easily approachable crowdpleaser, but is shows some enjoyable complexity and even a hint of development that might appeal to more demanding connoisseurs of wines. Still, I must say I'm not the biggest fan of this traditional style of Cannonau - it is just too ripe and soft for my palate. Needs something hearty and equally suggestive of sweetness to pair nicely - perhaps something BBQ-related with sweet potatoes? Priced more or less according to its quality at 12,50€.

December 12, 2017 - Even better than past. Smooth fruit forward without being too fruity.
