November 8, 2020 - This is lovely. Funky and barnyard flavors. A bit tight and tart on the mid palate. A slight dusty bitterness near the end detracts from an otherwise lovely wine. May update as this is PnP in riedel sommelier Syrah glass. Cellar temp initially.
Update. Just noticed my last note said it was my last bottle. Haha. Found two more with a cellar move. No comment.
A few hours in, this is settling in quite nicely. Some nice smoky feral notes now appear.
Unlike new world versions (including Cayuse) the fruit here is more subdued. It is still there, but it is melded (rather than under) the more feral funky notes. Upping the score to 92 now.
A few days latter stored in the cellar -- even nicer. Some feral umami flavors that make me want to keep sipping this. So smooth, with some nice fruit underneath. Upping this to 93 now. but scores are a bit silly. This is a lovely bottle of wine. -

November 25, 2017 - My last bottle. This is still drinking beautifully. Some nice blood, tart fruit, and earthy leather. A bit tart on the finish, which mellows out a bit with time in the glass. Would love to see how this fares in 3 years or so. This was great with food (roast chicken with roasted root vegetables), and is interesting and intriguing and pleasant enough to drink without food.

October 18, 2016 - Still drinking quite nicely. Still a lot of complexity. Strong barnyard and rustic flavors, with some savory fruit. Wish I had more than one bottle remaining!

December 4, 2015 - Same as last one. This is singing nicely right now.

August 6, 2015 - Drinking quite nicely now. A really good balance of fruit and acidity that leaves a mouthwatering finish that makes me want to take another sip. Nose of cherries, with hints of earth, raw red meat, and even a slight note of spearmint of menthol. Wonderful attack in the mouth. Some sharp acidity on the edges, with a wonderful core of cherries and other red fruits, but not overly sweet or fruity. More of a rustic version of those fruits. The acidity and fruit leap up near the end, transitioning into a long and satisfying finish that brings up more of the earth, and even some saddle leather. This note is almost 18 hours after opening -- no decanting, but having sat in bottle with no cork over night with perhaps 3 glasses having been poured out the night before (so about the large width of the bottle exposed to air). This tells me that this wine still has a lot of life in it, and could benefit from a decant upon opening, as the flavors are much better than I remember them last night.
