Community Tasting Notes 3

June 23, 2018 - Colour is dark Ruby starting to fade on the absolute edge.

On the nose: ripe brambly red fruits, think cherries and stewed fruits, and a hidden mushroom note beginning to show. Also has beautiful baking spices; nutmeg, a slight note of ginger and liquorice all enveloped in vanilla.

Palate... This is where it shines... It matches the nose, but the intensity is higher. Medium + tannin and acidity, a medium + length finish, a slight zinfandel quality to the fruit, but in a good way.

This deserves plenty more time in bottle. Pity it's my last bottle.

March 24, 2014 - Zeer donkerrood, jeugdig paarse rand. In de geur rokerig, zwart fruit, viooltjes, wat stal, jodium en mint. In de smaak zwoel rijp fruit, chocolade, pepermunt en tabak. Lang aanhoudende afdronk met korrelige, jeugdige tannines. Fantastische prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding. 91+

February 26, 2014 - Surprisingly 'farmyardy' on the nose, almost like a mature Pinot noir, herbaceous and not especially fruity. Very interesting on the palate, blackberry notes very strong at the start, becomes slightly cherry after a few seconds. Finish still quite tannic, but goes on for a long, long time. Give it another year or two, but this is a great value wine.
