Community Tasting Notes 5

December 10, 2021 - The fruit is absolutely GORGEOUS on the wine. Effusive ripe sweet strawberry and rhubard on the mid palate with some developing sous bois that hints to its vosne upbringing while also showing the secondary notes its bringing out. Everything is pretty well integrated into the wine already, minimal tannin, medium structure on the body and just pure spiced fruit.

February 18, 2020 - First time with this producer. Very crude and organic. A bit of greenness from the vintage, stems, sour on the palate like chewing on a rhubarb stick. For me missing some sweetness. Interesting wine but not 100% my cup of tea.

January 4, 2019 - Roch signature sterm and fresh strawberry aroma with some spices and mint. High in acidity in the first hour. Fruits gradually revealed but still a water-downed Suchots.

May 11, 2016 - Domaine Prieuré Roch Dinner organised by Wine Source (28-50 Wine Bar and Workshop, Maddox Street, London): The wine is clear and pale ruby in colour.
The nose is clean with medium (+) intensity aromas of red fruit (red cherry, strawberry, plum), spice (liquorice), floral (violets), oak (smoke, clove), tertiary (forest floor). The wine is developing.
The palate is dry with highacidity, medium (+) fine, ripe tannins, medium alcohol, medium (+) body, pronounced intensity flavours of red cherry, strawberry, liquorice, violet, smoke, clove, forest floor. The finish is long.
The wine is outstanding quality. The acid and tannins balance the fruit which is good concentration and is starting to develop some complexity from tertiary clusters. The finish is long and persistent.
The wine can be drunk now but is suitable for further ageing - at least 10 years. It has the acid and tannin structure and the primary fruit concentration to allow further development of tertiary flavours.

March 21, 2015 - slightly higher and less alcohol than other vintages. But with a great expression of terroir, lovely spice. Not terribly long, but enjoyable.
