Community Tasting Notes 9

January 9, 2021 - Same as note from two years ago, with acidity still very pronounced. Not a bad wine, just nothing (other than the label) which would lead you to believe this is a Napa Cab, much less a “reserve.”

September 9, 2020 - Pretty amazing! Aging very well. Blackberry, dark cherry, light raspberry, coffee, light cocoa, light smoke, and spice notes on the palate. Medium body, soft moderate (-) tannins, good acidity and great balance. Very smooth. Wonderful, long, lightly spicy finish with a pleasing moderately thick mouthfeel and texture. Aerate for at least 30 minutes, but tasted great right away. Went well with cheeses and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Wish I had more.

October 16, 2019 - Similar to my last bottle and note from 4 years ago. But lowered rating because I felt the acidiy overpowers and detracts from the wine even after 9 years. I had hoped it would mellow out and be more balanced at this stage. Still quite fresh, some nice red and black fruit notes but heavy mid palate and finishing acidity that detracts from a Cab profile.

September 20, 2018 - Light to medium weight. Fruit still bright after 8 years with sharp acidity. More reminiscent of Sangiovese than Cab. Nice finish and overall a decent wine, just not like most Napa Cabs.

November 1, 2015 - Interesting Cab. Medium weight, quite fresh and fruity, mixed dark and red fruits, very little tannins to speak of and a spicy lengthy finish. Does not have the standard Cali cab profile. Decent drinker but unique Cali cab profile may disappoint some at this price point as it resembles some of the $10 -15 mass produced cabs.
