Community Tasting Notes 13

January 25, 2023 - An absolute knock-out of a stellar AV pinot from Drew. I will not run my previous note through any reprisal and only write that if anything this bottle is that much better than the previous. An incredible value and rendering of the grape and site/vineyard.

June 2, 2021 - First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind.
Red berry and cherry, sweet spice, quite fruit lozenge, cedar. Polished oak. Juicy, soft, alcohol warmth, fruit forward, a little talc textured, long, generous. Nice in a slight overdone way.
    I knew this was mine.

March 14, 2020 - From Coravin. I don't remember this being so bold...Blackberry and bramble, sweet spice, slight earth, leather, caravel and vanilla. The fruit translate to the palate with juicy acid, plenty of tooled and textured tannic burr ot the mid palate, a little sweet spice and very slight vanilla on the finish as well as a touch of alcohol warmth that is non-intrusive. Nice, balanced...

January 10, 2020 - This wine is drinking beautifully right now, as I suspect it always has. The silken liquid somehow caresses the palate with a perfect Pinot-grape weight, an effortless forward-bias of energetic, fresh berry (raspberry) / cherry fruit, spice, and that undefinable "IT" factor that makes some wines greater than the sum of their tasting notes. The nose is very pretty and I want to believe I could pick the wine out as one of Jason Drew's Pinot creations. Blending a bit of the personal into the note, after running 9 miles earlier most wines would better desiccate than satiate my palate, but a wine of this freshness and liveliness is hard to put down, despite my generally semi-parched condition. But I want to emphasize, the mouthfeel and balanced weight of this wine are it's most prized qualities in my estimation.

January 31, 2019 - Annual Coravin blitz - day one (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Red currant, a little cranberry, slight dusty spices, a little stalks and a tiny jubey cherry underpinned with a little ethanol warmth and cream. More of the same on the palate, juicy with quite silky tannins and a little peppery spice. Hmm
