April 25, 2024 - Popped and poured. Not sure I have much more I can say about this than Vinorsk’s most recent note, which describes my experience with this wine to a T. I’d rate it a tad higher, though: 5-13-17-9: 94/100.

April 22, 2024 - Medium bodied translucent with a Ruby core, very thin pale rim for being 19 years old. Nose leaps out of the glass: red fruit with spicy undertones. A little hint of funk but it smells younger than it is - though still very put together. Light side of medium weight, not thin but very light. Red fruits - not overly ripe but also not jammy. Silky mouth feel but with some tannins. Sour cherry/a less sweet Lunden’s cough drop with a slightly peppery finish and some secondary leather. Tart and the Tannins are fine and on the light side of medium. Very enjoyable!

December 3, 2023 - Dr Wine nails it. Youthful blackberries, great balance, touch of older flavors (cedar to me). Tannins are a little gritty and feel like they are going to start precipitating out soon so this needs some meat fat with it currently. Pretty darn perfect to my limited Rioja palate.

June 25, 2023 - Decanted 6 hours earlier. Deep ruby. A faint whiff of pine but mostly blackberry fruit. Deep, smoky, and tannic. Wow, another impressive older Riojanas wine. I could not believe how youthfully it came across for an 18 year old wine.

June 6, 2023 - Medium dark ruby with garnet edges. On the nose an explosion of black plums, figs, lilacs, cigar wrapper, licorice, loam, a touch of charred wood and a whisper of baking spice. Penetrating dark fruit on the palate, strong but smoothly integrated tannins, medium to high acids that weld beautifully with the everlasting fruit driven tannic finish. Velvet texture with a lovely sweet aromatic back note. Medium alcohol (14%). A wine that seems to carry the mythic history of its vineyard.
