June 15, 2017 - Farewell for now: Very toasty nose with some marmalade and orange as well. The palate has softened nicely without losing its acid core. Good length and balance here, no hurry to drink but it feels like it is sitting around its peak.

June 15, 2017 - Quick Notes From a Memorable Night in Sydney (Cirrus, Barangaroo): A very interesting treasure. Loads of patrol and some waxiness. High acid backbone, amazingly fresh.

September 22, 2014 - One of my favourite whites of the year. Almost as good as I remember it, characterised by its varnishy, viscous marmaladé of integrated aromas and mature, citrusy rindy off-bitter palate. Outstanding but probably not many more years left in it. Peaking

July 17, 2014 - Topped with black wax. On the nose, the 'petrol' note associated with aged Riesling is out in full force, complemented by notes of caramel, honey, elderflower, and white rice. The palate shows great structure: medium body, gentle acidity, a touch of skin tannin, and little/no sweetness. Flavours of fresh lime and petrol, with hints of banana peel, jasmine, and white toast.

July 17, 2014 - Best's Great Western Dinner with Justin Purser (The Tea Room, City Wine Shop, Melbourne): My wine of the night. A glorious, crystalline golden yellow colour. Very expressive aromas of lemon meringue, mandarin, and a whiff of wet paint - more turpentine than kerosene. A rich, full flavoured palate of lemon tart, orange rind, cold tea and slightly sweet creme brûlée, perhaps influenced by the wet year and the inclusion of small amounts of botrytis. Just phenomenal.
