November 21, 2023 - Ageing serenely. To-be-expected tropical fruits, good clean citrus acidity, something liquorice on the finish.

    Very dependable cuvee from Cauhape.

December 31, 2016 - Served as an aperitif along with foie gras toasts.
Clear crowd pleaser thanks to the high acidity and low sugars

March 24, 2016 - A business lunch (Restaurant Aan de Poel **, Amstelveen, NL): Half bottle. Fresh and intense, sweet but with lovely Manseng bitters, tropical fruit, touch of honey, baked apple, hint of straw, good intensity and length.

December 26, 2015 - First try (beyond chateaux tastings) of the much-lauded 2011 vintage.

A beautiful looking wine, with a slightly viscous quality, light-golden hue and long legs.

The nose is everything I love about Jurancon, one that draws me back like a moth to a flame over and over. Exotic fruits, principally pineapple, with a hint of lemon and lime, and a lovely off-aniseed whiff in the background.

A lovely, none-too sweet, nor too cloying, palate with again much fruit and that lovely mouth watering acidity that marks Jurancon out as my favourite style of dessert wine. It is still very young, and I'm hoping for a touch more complexity as this settles down with age. This really has the stuffing, so I'm going to hold off my other bottles for a couple of years.

If I might venture a slight criticism, its the increasing alcohol content of Cauhape wines. I appreciate that this is an industry-wide phenomenon, but creeping alcohol content is starting to mar the enjoyment of wine for me.

July 17, 2015 - Another Cauhapé which fails to live up to the domaine's reputation. Pineapple cubes, hard edged, whiff of sulphur; inexpressive, sweetish, one dimensional, lacks definition. .
