October 14, 2018 - Second Sunday Group: 2006 vs 2007 Napa Cabs/Blends (R&D's): Courtesy of Peter, this was quite pretty, showing notes of rose, cinnamon, cherry and earth. Cherry and earth on the palate; plenty of fruit remains here. Excellent.

August 9, 2017 - Dinner and Wine at Sun Wah (Sun Wah BBQ, Chicago, IL): This kept getting better over the course of the night. Initially quite nose opens up to medium-full with black cherry and some earth tones. The palate gains plushness with air to show fresh and bright with almost creamy cherry. Savory and leathery in the finish.

August 9, 2017 - Dinner at Sun Wah (Chicago, IL): The more 96s I taste, the less enthralled I am with the vintage. The nose here has a nice touch of earth that's balanced by some tart red fruit: promising enough. But the palate is just too acidic and doesn't have enough stuffing to carry it through, leaving this mostly a structural husk without any meat on the bones. The palate shows a bit more mushroom than the nose; and the (in)famous Laurent oak definitely isn't prominent here.

August 30, 2013 - Attractive nose of sour cherry, herbs, spice with a prominent funk note. Palate has silky texture and light-to-medium body. Picked up weight over the few hours it was open. Moderate intensity across the mid-palate. Good array of fruit, earth and funk flavors on the palate. Medium finish. Holding up well. I don't imagine there's much up side though it should hold.

October 22, 2011 - Fall Fest Wines (Larry's): I know many in this crowd are AFWE, so I brought this thinking it would be appreciated. As a couple of people told me it was their WOTN, I think I was right. For me, it deemed too one dimensional and simple. By no means, was this past prime though. Nice silky texture. Mostly cherry fruit with some sour cherries.Nice mature Burg.
