November 2, 2022 - developed but potential life ahead. Light ruby color; full body, medium alcohol. Beautiful aromatic profile with touch of garrique, velvet mouthfeel; acidity and medium + tannins both provide structure

September 18, 2020 - This was very youthful five years ago, when I last tried this; well into the development phase now with lots of life ahead. Bright, deep ruby color; full body, medium alcohol. Beautiful aromatic profile with garrique, purple flowers, smoked meat, spicy raspberries, ripe plums, sweet cherries, and dark stony, mulchy earth. Fresh, powerful and balanced mouthfeel; acidity and tannins both provide structure and support a very long finish. Although I was initially worried that this might overwhelm the spinach pasta, topped with baked pesto stuffed sea scallops, both wine and food complemented each other based on texture, saltiness, and compatible flavors...a pleasant surprise. Can drink now, but will likely improve with additional cellaring. Drink now though 2025+.

October 27, 2019 - Better with air/on day 2. Will wait another year before I drink my others.

March 6, 2019 - I have one each of the 2010 and 2011 vintage. And, I will say that the 2011 vs 2010 comparison in CDP seems to be rather similar to Napa 2011 vs 2012/2010 when it comes to style. There is something very charming about these '11 CDP wines from well known producers. Where is the 2010 are extremely dark, punchy, full throttle, these 2011's are definitely lighter. Nose of iodine, plum, black cherry. Entry is sweet, dark figs for a second, and then turns into a lighter black cherry and cigar, hint of iodine, hint of bacon fat. Middle is plum, cola, earth. Finishes with quite a bit of acidity. Black pepper, plum, oregano, basil. Really intriguing wine. Wish I had more!! IMO this is a hold or drink wine. I actually do still expect this one to improve quite a bit in the bottle.

November 10, 2017 - Wasnt that good tonight. Acidic bitter finish. Garnet evolving Hughes almost like a Brunello. But definitely missing the Rhône fruit flavor. Was not as impressed with this one tonight as I have in the past
