January 21, 2019 - Full disclosure: This was my first barbera, so I have no real perspective to judge it against its peers. But it was deightful, and I'm saddened that my four bottles are now gone.
So my cellar is dominated by Bordeaux and Riojas, and this was such a nice change of pace. But that leaves me at a bit of a loss to describe its unique flavor profile, so bear with me here. Not a tannic wine at all, it nevertheless had beautifully balanced acidity to give its dark cherries a wonderful high tone. Add to this a touch of raspberry on the top of the palate, with just the faintest hint of incense to round it out and provide more interest. Plenty of juiciness to the ample fruit, but do not equate this with an Oregon fruit drink...this is Old World wine.
Although one need not hurry with any remaining bottles, I did get the impression that the wine is at peak or slightly, slightly past, and I suspect the wine has no further upside to ageing.
A delightful weeknight wine, and a superb introduction to this varietal. -

March 16, 2017 - Solid, nice fruit, very tart. Mostly red fruits and cherry, but had some subtle earth and tobacco.

May 26, 2016 - Coravin # 1 - earth, blackberry, licorice, dark dark fruit. Little meaty and funky. Not sure if it's Brett or not. Possible. Hummm. Mediocre by itself, decent with food.

May 23, 2016 - Fresh, juicy, very little tannin, a little bit of smoke on the nose, enough acidity to hold up to ravioli in red sauce , enough ripe cherry flavors to drink well by itself. Easy to drink. Probably not a wine for holding on to.
