September 5, 2021 - Interesting wine that trades mostly on its novelty and history. This is cleanly made and quite international. I do sort of get the pinot meets sangio references for the areni grape. Not sure I could tell this did not come from California and too much jam and primary fruit for my tastes, but it was a crowd pleaser for sure. Told the story of Noah coming down from Mt Ararat and starting a vineyard while we drank this...
Not sure I would go out of my way to find this again, but fun to try.

June 6, 2021 - Dark ruby-garnet color. It has an odd nose of watered-down hot chocolate with a bit of red fruit. Sweet, tart red fruit hits you immediately followed by intense raspberries mixed with…..perhaps kiwi? The end palate is especially hard to describe; it’s kind of like the aftertaste of a Cherry Fun Dip candy (for you older folk). The texture is fairly watery. Unusual and interesting.

August 23, 2020 - Our first Areni Noir and a delightful introduction.

This took a few minutes to open up, revealing a light-bodied wine, smooth and fresh, with a nose of fresh plums, black pepper, and faint herbal notes. With time, a gentle perfume of dried flowers emerges.

There is good acidity here and a core of pleasant, sweet (but not overripe) fruit is framed by subtle minerality and a light, soft, refined, and completely smooth tannic structure. There’s a hint of bitterness on the finish that keeps it refreshing. With air, the wine develops some concentration. There is good persistence on the finish, without weight.

Really, excellent red wine for summer sipping.

January 14, 2017 - Almost fruity, with very little residual tannin, a sweet berry note, and medium finish. A bit like a light Italian (not surprising), and not like other Areni noir I have tried. "modern" in style

December 10, 2016 - Garnet color with ruby rim, glassy and vibrant. Smells of cherries herbs like rosemary and Tyme and cracked pepper. Similar on palate with cherry pit and raspberry. Interesting tannins: a bit drying tho pleasant, not woody or oaky.
Interesting wine! Reminds me of Brunello or better Rosso di Montalcino mixed w Cru Beaujolais.
