August 24, 2014 - PnP. Bright crimson with a touch of purple not saturated with a scarlet to clear rim. Plummy cranberry cherry and earth on the nose. Medium(-) weight with sleek tannins. Plummy cranberry cherry and cassis on the palate with a touch of earth and a meaty note on the finish. Not bad for the price but a bit surprised that this is a Lt. Governor's award winner.
Resealed 3/4 of the bottle and stored in fridge to try in a few days.
What a difference a few days makes! Lost all its sharpness. Much more integrated and complex. Bright red and black fruits on the nose with whiff of smoke caramel and pepper. Bright bing cherry and cassis on the palate with lavender licorice blackberry espresso and a meaty note. The syrah predominates but it presents as a flavorful integrated package. One of the best improvements with a few days in the fridge ever. +4
