May 25, 2016 - Tasting Bordeaux 13-12-11-10 in Hong Kong (Visiting Vinexpo 2016, I finally tasted Bordeaux 2013s from bottle, plus earlier vintages): Well, well, well. See now, sometimes I feel that the "modernist" approach in weaker vintages can succeed such as in this case. Chateau rep Benoit Prevot nodded in approval, lol! Basically this has charm, ripe fruit and is an easy going pleasure to drink, say, at a barbecue.

March 28, 2016 - Nice nose of lactic and vanilla… hint of fruit, nice maturity, no tannins, but a bit light on its feet.

February 9, 2016 - Medium bodied, with a focus on the freshness in the plum and cherry fruit tones, there is an earthy note and a kiss of oak that adds to the overall complexity of this forward styled wine.

January 31, 2016 - One of the few noteworthy wines on the vintage. Warm bordeaux nose...Coffee, char, and earth. Good vibrance, good fruit, with descent cedar and graphite. Nice Pomerol! I would hold this for 3 years, but you can drink it now too. drink or Hold...

January 30, 2016 - Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux San Francisco. Nose of black cherry, berry, and dusty earth, more of the same on the palate, light/medium body, tasty but a touch simple and thin, medium finish. $50-pass.

January 27, 2016 - Oaky nose, reminiscent of Red Willow v'yd merlots Unexpectedly soft on palate, some complexity developing

January 27, 2016 - UGC 2016 (Chicago, IL): This had a very pronounced perfume, with some sweet fruit and florals that was just captivating. The palate here is rounded out nicely, with a relatively unobtrusive oak treatment. Perhaps picked slightly riper, as this does seem to show a bit more heft?
