December 14, 2015 - The fruit was gone from this bottle. Took it from a temperature controlled cellar. While it opened up a little as it sat there wasn't much left to this wine.

December 6, 2015 - Sampled at Labe Mell's 89th birthday party - no formal notes- I loved this. Tobacco, saline, cherry, raspberry on nose & palate - similar palate - lots of earth but fruit was still there and this was a very balanced wine. 93+ Thanks to whoever brought this!

October 10, 2012 - Still fairly youthful in color, dark garnet showing just a bit of bricking, medium full bodied, a wonderful nose of fresh earth, fall spice, roasted mushrooms; on the palate there is bright, lively syrah fruit, plenty of fresh acidity, just a touch of interesting development showing up. Drinking nicely now, could easily go another decade, and will probably get more interesting.

Continues to open with a little more air time. Oodles of sweet fruit, no one would mistake this for a Rhone syrah, but it is so well balanced, flavorful, it holds my interest and makes me want to come back for another taste.

24 hours later: holding up beautifully, some of the slight sweet-tart character has dissipated, leaving a nicely balanced wine with impeccable balance, youthful but with plenty of interest. Very nice. Recommend a long decant for this.

May 27, 2012 - Still fairly youthful dark garnet, maybe a touch of brick mixed in; Give this an hour of air to let it reveal rich, bright fruit, a bit of sweetness, hints of savory dried herbs, lively balancing acidity that brightens and lengthens the finish. Showing some development, but in no danger at all of starting to go down the other side of its plateau.
