February 5, 2020 - This was the best white Chapoutier I’ve had to date. While always shining with complex aromatics I’ve found these wines often a bit too sweet and oily with not enough acidity to fully delivering a fresh and balanced experience. Not this wine, in this wine the great aromatics are matched by a high but very round acidity which makes the wine fresh like a daisy. Wonderful. It would deserve an even higher score if it wouldn’t be for the rather short finish. I wouldn’t let this wine age much longer. It seems to be at its peak, in my opinion.

TN: Matchstick, flint, wet stones, some nutty and tropical aromas in the balanced, slightly buttery nose. Much more impressive on the palate with with a myriad of aromas ranging from tropical to stone and white fruit, floral aromas, some nutty notes as well as a strong mineral component and salty notes. The structure and texture are impressive with a high but perfectly integrated acidity (almost sparkling on the attack) to keep the slightly buttery but never oily or heavy feel in balance. Slightly short finish.

    Decanting: No decant needed.

January 31, 2020 - Tasted blind. Oak notes of sweet wood, nutty and faint citric aromas underlining more dominant stone fruit. Even a bit of tropical fruit popping up. Herbal and grassy too. Over time more smoke and a bit of petrol. Concentrated and dense with a texture that is slightly creamy. Perfect amount of crisp acidity to carry this heavyweight. Palate kicks off with almost crunchy saltiness. Given the intensity and higher acidity than I'm used to with Hermitage Marsanne this one probably has a long way to go still. Already great today, but likely even better in 5 years' time.

December 30, 2019 - Really nice tonight with abundant tropical and stone fruit flavors that are supported by baking spice undertones and a firm minerality. There’s also excellent depth and concentration here.

August 11, 2018 - Decanted a couple of hours ... plenty of drinking window left. Took to tasting - everyone enjoyed the Marsanne grape.
