  September 11, 2022 - 200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Green and tannic, rich and ripe, commanding masculine tannins, but nice aroma with bakery, pine. Dry finish.

  October 13, 2020 - Translucent garnet, just starting to brick around the edges. Lovely floral notes on the nose: violets, redbush, Provençal herbs and spices. Loads of red berries, cherries. Multiple layers in the mouth. First the fruit, balanced by acidity mid palate and then the tannic structure, but beautifully integrated, and finally a long, sweet and multi-dimensional finish which last on the tongue seemingly forever. Delectable wine.

  October 8, 2019 - La Grand Rue Dinner (Iggy's, Hilton Hotel, Singapore): This was quite nice - a real step up from the Grand Rues of the mid-1990s. The nose had a nice sweet ring of red cherries, rosemary, dried earth and fragrant spice - really nice. The palate was at a really nice place too, with clear, pure flavours of red cherries, berries and sweet spices laced with fine, slightly powdery tannins and juicy acidity, all drifting into a slightly herby, minty finish. Not mindblowing, but certainly a pleasant and yummy wine.

Every time we looked, it was different. A remarkable bottle of tremendous complexity, showing rich, powerful raspberry and blue-black fruits with spices, some farmyard characters, mint, green apples, slight dill-parsley, mushrooms, Grand Marnier, sous bois, liquorice-aniseed and, later on, distinct blackberry.
  
  Has obvious Grand Cru concentration and breeding, with one flavour after another showing itself, but also had somewhat unattractive porty hints at times. Our enjoyment dipped slightly about 2 hours after decanting, when the alcohol (13.9%, the label said) showed a bit too overtly on the palate. We noted "if only they'd picked it a bit earlier" - but then the alcohol wave receded as mysteriously as it had arisen.
  
  Not sure how to fairly assess this one fascinating bottle. It's no wonder this vineyard is of such interest given its location and this experience. As we were on an art and degustation journey it reminded me a bit of Vincent Van Gogh - by being both brilliant yet somewhat erratic and making me wonder "what if ..."
