January 8, 2022 - Nicely matured and quite complex aromas such as dried sour cherries and tobacco, old wood, sagebrush and essential oils - not unlike an oldschool Sangiovese. Palate equally firm and suave, surprisingly lean and cool for 15 % abv, with a gentle grip of drying wood tannins. Much more civilized than it was six years ago, and will surely keep for several years more. Perfect match with ragù di cinghiale!

April 7, 2018 - Last time I drank this, it was much more on the fruit. Now I find no richness anymore. Yes, the fruit is there, but more sublimated and you feel more the firmness the acidity than any expression of ripe fruit. Loved it in this stage.

September 5, 2017 - PnP. Dark red, red rim, 5.5. Overmature bouquet dominated by volatile acids, behind that some dark berries and dried roses. The same goes for the palate, a bit aggresive acid here as well. Drink now or bad specimen?

    Together with "zampone e lenticchie".
Very ripe fruit, but never dried. Rich cherries, or cherry compote.
On the palate it is rich, but light in the mid-palate, and the acidity gets felt on the finish.

Edit: the day after the acidity became more prominent and the wine fresher and more drinkable.

Stunning! Complex nose, a lot more intriguing than a typical Barbera - perhaps a consequence of the long aging in botte?
The palate confirms the positive impressions and it's interesting, juicy, serious and very drinkable. You wouldn't guess this is 15% alcohol.
    Very fine.
