  January 8, 2016 - Purple to black color. Aromas of cedar, earth, dried herbs, menthol, and black currant. Good dose of black fruit, but more earthy and 'brown', kind of reminded me of a Chilean Bdx blend. Medium plus weight, dark fruited attack, medium acidity. Again, more spice, earth and herbal character on the finish. Tannins are mild, fruit keeps the finish lively. I did get hints of oak vanillin here and there, though it was largely in balance.
  
  A fairly strong, extracted wine, but also has solid varietal character without being rough on the edges or over the top. Seems built for near term.
