March 3, 2019 - Prunes, raisins, dates, caramel and apricots. Not cloying. Very nice mid palate. In general I am not a huge Madeira fan but I very much enjoyed this.

January 30, 2014 - Unknown if solera or not. Deep caramel sauce notes. Intense, sweet wine. Well focused, particularly up front, though missing some in length. Limey.

October 18, 2008 - Madeira @ Triomphe (New York City): Lots of volatile acidity. Dark in color, but a bit light on the palate. A bit soft and a bit short on the finish. Some malty aspects. Good wine, but it does fall a bit flat, overall.

December 25, 2007 - Just finished the second half of the bottle reported on in September. Still singing, and quite enjoyable as a Christmas Eve after dinner drink. MMM...thanks Rico, we couldn't resist.

September 21, 2007 - Kitchen Tasting Group Does Beaver Creek – Day One: Oddly placed between the champagne and the Barolo because the chefs got caught sampling the goods in the kitchen. Everyone decided to join us. I have no experience with madeira but have to say this is really enjoyable. The nose is incredibly intense -- dominated by butterscotch/carmel flavors. In the mouth this is very concentrated and intense. The finish is long and satisfying. Great.

August 26, 2005 - Dinner @ XXXX: Big nose of chocolate, raisins and spice. Quite dry and bracing on the palate. Almost Sercial type dryness. Served with Bolo de Mel, but would have been better as an apertif.

December 8, 1990 - Was a 110 years old and was tasted after being opened for 4 days, closed nose, high in alcohol, lacks bottle bouquet, rich, nutty fruit in the mouth, hints of what it was-wish I was present to taste it when opened.
