August 14, 2023 - A full scaled and rich Monty with lots of nuance. Just spectacular if you like classic and punchy Monty.

July 2, 2023 - Gorgeous, complex, mysterious, fantastic, life-affirming. Also extremely young still. I am not giving this a score because I don't have other Montrachet experiences to compare this to, but I can't imagine what a better wine could taste like. I lucked into this bottle because Girardin seems to still be - well not under-the-radar exactly, but judged by the house's past reputation. Decanted at 6 pm for a 7 pm dinner, and that was an error - this needs at least 2-3 hours open to reveal itself. (And btw, how do you decant a white wine for hours without it raising to room temp? I ended up putting the decanter in a pot with water and ice, but that wasn't ideal.) Just gunflint on the nose at first, but slowly starting to give up nuances. The first indication that this isn't just, y'know, good wine, is in the length of the finish. I have seriously never had another wine with length like this. You can genuinely measure it in minutes. The taste was a little rocky at first, more component parts. And then it seemed a bit mute - but maybe 3 hours after opening, the mid-palate filled in with lemons and pineapple and honey. Every sip was a little different, unique, but never as bold as the Girardin Batard - always more restraint and elegance. Nice minerality that keeps you awake. We had pan-fried halibut with this, which was a golden pairing, and then in the hours afterward I sipped slowly and stuck my nose in the final 1/4 of a glass. I didn't want this to end. Truth is, it's still way young. Maybe 2030 is its maturity? Everything I have ever wanted in Le Montrachet - truly amazing.

August 7, 2020 - This is a really good Montrachet from Girardin. In particular, after following his white for so many years, he has implemented a much more subtle use of oak in recent vintage, which is a positive development. Very mineral-driven with layers of lemon oil, zest, citrus, white flowers and yellow fruit in combination with dazzling acidity. Loved the big citrus squeeze on the palate with grip. Great bottle. 93-94

October 26, 2019 - Very profound with a ripe nose extremely elegant with aan amazing thick texture. Massively long and persistent. Warm and intense it finishes with a touch of salt. An amazing wine which stands apart from the others. The flavors continue on after you drink it. Never-ending beauty
