  November 12, 2017 - Cork came out in pieces so I wasn't expecting much, however the wine did have some tannin, berry and a little mocha and was pleasant. I knew it would not last the night so we drank as much as we could. Next night it was far worse as expected.

  February 23, 2013 - Ran the report to see the bottles we have that are possibly past our prime. This wine was definitely past. We will not finish the bottle. Now looking for something else we can open.

  February 7, 2011 - We drank this bottle this past weekend with a meal of steak diane that we made in our kitchen (excellent and relatively easy dish to make by the way). I'd obviously held the wine too long since it was way past its prime. Color was a very rich ruby red in the decanter and it exhibited a decent, although underwhelming nose with some fruit, so we were hopeful that we were in store for a nice experience.
  
  Unfortunately, the wine had thinned out and lost much of its texture and flavor, and had even started to show a vinegary undertone... so it wasn't far from turning bad completely. It was drinkable, but overall insipid. If you have a bottle of this vintage, drink it now, or you'll end up pouring it down the drain. Kind of a shame because I thought the 1996 would hold up better.

  August 30, 2009 - Way past its prime. Wish I had Cellartracker about 4 years ago. Metallic cacao is what comes to mind.
