  February 8, 2023 - Deep ruby color with very appealing and dynamic black plum, black cherry, black and red currant, sage, violet, toasted oak, roast coffee and a hint of spice aromas. On the palate, it medium-bodied with and impeccably balanced with vibrant acidity and well-integrated tannins. It shows plum, black cherry black and red currant, crushed violet and a hint of spice flavors with a long finish. Raised for 20 months in new air-dried American oak12.5% abv|11 barrels produced|SRP - $55
  
  I should have decanted the wine, but I didn't because it was a spur of the moment pull from the cellar. The first night it was pretty tight and good. The second night it blossomed into a complex and distinguished bottle that brought us much joy!
  
  2011 is the first time Ridge bottled Petit Verdot as a mono-varietal wine.
  
  Bottle note: "For twenty-one of the past twenty four years, this wine from the Olivos and LeVasseur parcels of the historic Toree vineyards - has been include in the Monte Bello. Typically petit verdot is quite tannic and contributes firm structure. In blind tasting of the Monte Bello components, it show excellent varietal character, but relatively soft tannins; we decided to keep it apart"

  October 4, 2020 - Deep dark center, red rim with modest signs of age.
  Sweet, toasty, creamy, blueberries and blackberries, some higher toned phenolics, something spicy, touch of sandalwood.
  Gorgeous taste of blackcurrant and blueberries, paprika, creamy milk chocolate, good acidity (but modest tannins), very Petit Verdot, some chalkiness, finish of acidic berry fruit and vine sap.
  Excellent Ridge PV. Although very good now with food, I think this will do better in a couple of years.

  August 10, 2020 - Like previous tastings. Enticing aromas of berry fruit, flint, and oak. Flavors of tart dark cherry and barely ripe blackberry. Very dry. Soft dusty tannins, with a dry slate finish. Interesting example of the varietal if this is as ripe as it gets. It needs a food pairing; this paired well with a tomato/kale sauce over polenta, with the tomato acidity bringing out more of the fruit character, and the slightly bitter kale enhancing the sweetness a tad. Decanted over an hour, poured half in a 375 for the next day to see what happens.
