Community Tasting Notes 2

May 18, 2015 - According to the vineyard's website, this is a blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Petite Sirah, but it tastes like classic Petite Sirah. Very fragrant nose, with peppery and spicy notes mixed with berries; dark color. Soft, full mouthfeel, lashings of dark fruit and blueberries, and some underlying earthiness and a little sweet spice. Tannins are still prominent, and a little drying on the finish. Good depth without being the least jammy. Reminds me of why Petite Sirah is one of the best values in California wine. This is still very young, and will last for another five years at least, perhaps even improving as the tannins soften and become more integrated. Just an outstanding value. Highest recommendation.

March 31, 2015 - Powerful, fruity nose, somewhat masking the alcohol. Big and dry, not jammy in the least, lush berries mixed with a bit of earthiness, drying finish. Pleasurable with and without food.
