Community Tasting Notes 10

March 5, 2023 - About the best Leroy nose I have experienced. These 2000s are still so incredibly good. Not sure how it gets much better than this.

March 7, 2019 - Zachys La Paulée "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. This had been open almost 6 hours before I tasted it. Lots of mature red fruits, plus lots more sweet spice. Good weight and length, with even better balance.

December 1, 2017 - Kelly, Kevin, RJ and Tom's excellent NYC adventure; 12/1/2017-12/3/2017 (New York City): Classic concentrated opulent red fruit driven Leroy profile, cherry compote, raspberry tart, cinnamon, sous bois, sweet spices and mineral. Very good concentration, packed opulent red fruit, medium acidity, strong mineral presence and a medium to long opulent red fruit and cinnamon driven finish. Unfortunately, the bottle was shaken by the restaurant staff. The palate shows a hint of metal and remains a bit rough. Nevertheless, this is drinking beautifully in a classic Leroy way.

December 22, 2016 - Leroy Dinner at Binkley's (Phoenix, AZ): This is just yummy, plain and simple. It's a polished wine that is very easy to drink, and it may just be giving all its got now. I'd be inclined to drink these sooner than later.

July 14, 2016 - Bastille Day with GMs and Mivvy: Bottle 348 of 1756. Bursts out of the glass with a powerful array of aromas - raspberry, roses, char, truffle and plenty of earthy notes as well as some herbs, spice and stalk. The palate is just as good as the nose, with a mix of great texture and depth and while the fruit is there, it is nicely restrained and layered rather than being a full on powerhouse. Excellent in all regards, this is a seriously impressive wine that was superb now and showed the structure that it will happily continue to develop if given further time.
