October 13, 2022 - It's nicely integrated. All the elements are working together. The fruit is more stewed plums, blackberry, some oak spice. Feels like it is in a good place

June 26, 2022 - Nice wine but definitely needs aeration and decanting. Takes quite awhile to open up before the full expression of the wine is enjoyed. Typical of a cool climate Shiraz

April 26, 2022 - Deep ruby to narrow garnet rim. Nose of blackberry jelly, black cherry jam, peppery stem notes with smoke and dried autumn leaves.
The opening is all pastille sweetness alongside the stem inclusion and lively acidity. There is a menthol freshness, almost minty, but assuaged by blueberry jelly and red fruit notes. The tannins are grippy and somewhat chewy yet coated in juicy notes of fruit jelly. Whilst the pepper distantly shows the stem inclusion, it combines with the acidity and manages just about to lift the rather jelly-like fruit. Yet it remains simple, more a 2-dimensional style. Rather smoke-infused finish. Tiring perhaps?

July 20, 2019 - Decanted, the air helps as this slowly evolves from a one-dimensional powerhouse to a beautiful, expressive, textural wine. Real classic heathcote typicity here of gravel, plums, char, earthy spice and herbs. With time there’s more of a smoky, floral, kind of anise character emerging. Milky density on the palate. Lovely peppery spice flavour coming through. Powerful flavours but this has lots of class, lots of natural acidity, very fleshy feeling, vibrant wine. Delicious.

July 16, 2014 - Deep ruby all the way to the rim, somewhat reticent nose of morello cherry with a touch of spice. Surprising black cherry to go with the expected blackberry fruit, cinnamon, wet gravel evolving into violets on the end through lovely super fine tannin and acidity. Impressive indeed, and I feel it may be a little dumb just at the moment.
