  Attractively clear and relatively youthful looking in the glass. This really pops on opening, offering up wood spice framed notes of blood, iron, forest floor, damp soil, and candied red currant and red cherry fruit. Broad, incredibly juicy, long, persistent, filled with wild berry, cherry, and black cherry fruit that is well supported by mineral, earth, and toast notes. The alcohol is a bit intrusive, though that should integrate with some air, but it is so delicious right out of the bottle. Just medium weight plus, though with an impression of greater richness coming from the over ripeness of the fruit early on the palate, which fades nicely into the structure and more savory aspects of the backend and long finish. Very impressive. 93

  This has settled down on the nose, losing a bit of the spikes of greatness it exhibited on opening but exhibiting a fine blend of feral and ferrous earthy fruit. In the mouth it remains gorgeous, bright, vivid red fruit, mineral based, framing notes of evergreen and fine green herb notes. Complex and nuanced, and so lively. There are fine tannins here and fine if integrated acidity supporting everything and the finish is long with a fine dusty tannin finale which displays a beautifully rendered biter cherry note. The tannins could use another 2 years to fully integrate here, but with food they are perfect today. Trying to figure out what is missing here I am stuck by how complete this is, just a whisper of heat mars the finish. Great wine. 93.

  A bit brighter and fresher than it was last time around with more floral attributes. Complex but hightoned and light with added citrus and stone nuances. Almost velvety at this point but then this gains grip on the mid-palate that holds on for quite some time. Nuanced, layered, firm and assertive Chianti Classico. A lovely wine with a hint of blue fruit emerging now on the backend. Just a killer bottle of wine. Amazing persistence of fruit, mineral, and tannins. 94pts.

  While having lost a significant degree of aromatic complexity and intensity this still shows very ell with hints of bricks and mossy earth supporting violet laced sour cherry and salted plum fruit. Smells fresh and sapid. Big, verging on full on entry, then round and opulent int he mouth with a fine finish though markedly shorter than last night’s. Wow, still so juicy and bright if more relaxed than yesterday, it’s still delicious with more of a plummy cast to the fruit on the backend and through the modest finish. Delicious 91pts

I am not sure how long these 2011 will last, as they seem ready to drink and I am worried that there might be some oxidation if kept much longer.
  When I was coming back to this a little later, the wine started oxidizing.

  April 6, 2020 - Ruby colour. Fabulous nose with typical red berry and floral notes also forest floor. It is medium body with medium acidity and tannins that balance beautifully to give great mouthfeels. An outstanding Chianti that is drinking well now.

  November 4, 2019 - Drinking well now. Medium-weight. A little softer than usual (probably the vintage) but still fresh. Will probably keep on this nice plateau for a while.
