September 17, 2023 - This was a very pretty wine. Absolutely ready to go upon open and felt like it was fully mature. Beautiful nose, almost weightless mouthfeel, and a great finish. QPR? Not really there, but loved this nonetheless. Would I buy more? No, but it was given as a gift and drank with the person who gifted it months ago, so poetically it drank even better. Sunday night drinking which capped off a special weekend with a lot of rock-star wines (emptied out the wine cellar starting on Thurs), I think if this had been consumed in a vacuum maybe it would have scored better, but this was effectively the headliner and was outplayed by the opening acts, which is exactly the point.

February 9, 2023 - Napa 2023: the quieter version; 2/6/2023-2/11/2023 (Napa/Sonoma California): Rare to see this wine quite so immediately ready to go. Last time we did this tasting I don’t think it ever quite got there. Today was quite different. From the get go it was ready to grab you. Beautiful darker fruits and a bit of sweetness and again that freshness and just very well balanced. It’s an excellent wine having a lovely moment although for peak I still think it needs some more age.

January 25, 2021 - An explosive flavor palette. Wow. I was pretty pickled but it was a head snapper. Wake up! Really really great wine and worthy of the cult can status. Highly recommended

September 11, 2020 - Dark plum colored to magenta edge. Nose is black fruit, cedar, maybe stewed tomato, gravel dust. Palate is blackberry, graphite, caramel, crushed rock, spice, and cedar, maybe a touch of raspberry jam. Slightly bitter mid-palate. Full bodied and still quite tannic, big finish. I agree that this has potential to improve with more time, but also feel it is in a zone where it's drinking pretty nicely, particularly decanted and particularly paired with something substantial. There's a lot to like in the breadth and complexity. Very nice, definite upside.
