July 16, 2021 - Initially quite spiritous on the nose, then figs, plums, walnuts, sweet spice, cream, vanilla, leather, earth. In the mouth it's juicy, fleshy, a little bitter, the alcohol a little intrusive, textured on the mid palate, despite its age, though, it's quite simplistic on the palate. walnut and walnut skin with a smidge of plum on the finish. Hmm.

March 10, 2020 - From glass. Brown, oolong tea color, and a piercing nose of alcohol and nuts and caramel, a kind of roasted sherry. Alcohol fine on the palate - not overwhelming - and nice, mild flavors of hazelnut, roasted raisin, and again "roasted sherry," maybe even something mineral biting there. Nice, but certainly well past its prime.

July 23, 2016 - FTLOP 11th Anniversary; 7/22/2016-7/24/2016 (Sammamish, Washington): Amber in color with some hints of pink hues at the edges. Pronounced red fruit and spirit on the nose. Strawberry, some mint and a touch of spirit on the mid-palate. Long finish with good acidity.

December 26, 2015 - Wine was properly stored from purchase upon release until consumed. WOW. Color was thin, but that is the only thin thing about this wine. Phenomenal old port scent. Perfect balance between age and sweetness - just enough sweetness to make it incredible. A perfect match with stilton. Lovely to just sip when the stilton is gone. Fully mature, at its peak of perfection, one of the best ports I have drunk (and I have drunk many many ports).

May 22, 2011 - Very light color, a bit spirity, but still kicking, and quite pleasant. Nothing earth shattering, but an enjoyable port -- and it was the last from Dad's stash.
