  October 30, 2011 - Shockingly young and vibrant. A delightful wine in any vintage, but shocking for a 72. i tasted it before the 71 to give it a fair shake and it was classic Beze, still had fruit and has aged beautifully.

  December 17, 2009 - Bay Area Les Amis de Bourgogne Holiday Dinner (Aziza, San Francisco): Ahhh, thank you Richard with the old Burgs perfectly stored! Now one must like some age here, but if you do—talk about exotic! Because of excellent storage these wines always blow me away how fresh they are. Faded purple in color, with some brownness, but vibrant. Gorgeous nose of menthol, roses, woodspice, tobacco and black olive. Silky on the palate. I kept getting that "roomful of antiques:” thing, as well as freshly shaved black truffle.
