    September 23, 2019 - 4 hour decant

Very green and barnyard nose; not much fruit or topical Cos aromas.

Quite right and astringent; maybe an off bottle?

August 31, 2019 - Wow. Big beautiful but def Bordeaux. Blueberry, some savory hints, great acidity, full
Bodied, long finish. Tannins are sweet. This has the stuffing for another 10 years easily.

August 24, 2019 - This wine needs a lot of air. It is currently a bit closed and unfortunately, our host did not decant it. Nevertheless, this is a very promising wine, certainly among the top 2003s. In such a hot year, the notoric astringent (or call it classic) St. Estephs tend to perform well and this Cos is no exception. Not on the level of the Montrose but still with the potential to reach the top category (>97).

TN: Closed and a bit muted but underneath one can find all the traits of a great Bordeaux. Strong black fruit core, some red fruit, not too ripe or even tarty. Deep terroir expression and teritary aromas with earth, truffles, tobacco, leather, some fresh forest floor but above all the typical Cos spiciness and animal notes. The tannins have softened, plenty of acidity to keep it fresh and balanced, harmonious and with a fairly long finish.

Decanting: At least 5 to 6 hours in the decanter would be my advice.

August 10, 2019 - Good fruit (heavily extracted) Good acidity and friendly tannins. Impeccable balance, but still, to my taste, lacking the wow factor that leads most tasters to rate this wine considerably higher. New world style reflects the hot vintage.

July 28, 2019 - Last tasted a year ago, this has moved forward and is definitely at the beginning of its drinking window. It is a very special wine and already the best from the estate drinking, but with so much more to come. The nose is opulent with fruit with blackcurrant and red cherry prominent. The tannin does still inhibit the palate and finish, but the depth and complexity are outstanding. The finish pushes 60+ seconds, and, although over tannic at this stage, is perfectly balanced and harmonious. This does come alive in the glass after a while, even with a 10 hour decant. When will this finally blossom is hard to second guess, but I am hopeful it will be sooner rather than later. When it does it will be nudging a perfect rating. Will try with interest in a year's time. 97+
