  January 27, 2023 - Subtly sauvage, iodine, restrained dark fruits, blood, iron... finely made Mouvedre from sandy soils of Evanghelo. Proper, and somewhat young still. Fine chewy tannins. Beguiling.. several guessed it from Spain or France. Needs 4-5 more years in a good cellar.

  January 13, 2016 - A wine that is a bit too over-the-top for me. A lot of intensity, a plethora of fruit, and a bit of alcohol in the finish. I prefer a wine that is a bit more toned down. If you like big, fruity Shirazes from Australia and the same in Malbecs from Argentina, you'll like this wine. Kudos to Frank Evangelho for saving and caretaking this unique and historic California vineyard, and equal kudos to Bruce Neyers for appreciating and interpreting its fruit.

  December 8, 2014 - Very impressed by this wine. Ill put it down to the 120 year old vines. Thats old anywhere. Very similar to a bandol. Gamey and spice and enough fruit to.contain the minimal heat and tannins. Good job.

  September 12, 2014 - Exotic fruit aromas, kiwi and lichee. Some alcohol heat. Smooth red fruit flavors. Some gaminess, and lots of spice. Medium to full finish. Elegant and well balanced.
