January 13, 2018 - Colour showing a little age now. Medium ruby going garnet. Looks a little cloudy also.
Medium nose with leather, cola, dried herbs and cherry. Savoury.
Medium- acid and tannin, medium+ body palate that is similarly savoury like the nose underpinned by some juicy Forrest fruits.
Medium to long finish. I'd say this is a very good wine that's starting to see some secondary characteristics develop. -

September 1, 2017 - Two bottles in the cellar. Bottle one is a let down. The expected vibrant fruit (per back label and JH) is missing - there is plenty of savoury, twiggy and herbal notes that are dominant over subdued squished red berries and a significantly bitter twist to the finish. I like Nebbiolo but this doesn't seem right. Half now, half into the fridge for tomorrow.

July 11, 2014 - Also bought this on the strength of Halliday's review. I've not drunk much Nebbiolo, and the ones that I have, have found them harsh and unapproachable, which was why I was so surprised that this looked and smelt more like a pinot noir in some aspects. Red with luminous purple edges. An uplifted nose, cherry, red currants, a little oak. Palate is full of cherries, good amount of tannin in the long finish but not over the top. Will go for some time.

July 4, 2014 - I'm a big fan of nebbiolo and, being in Australia, I'm excited to see more Aussie wineries producing nebbiolo. I bought six bottles of Casa Freschi's 2013 nebbiolo on the strength of James Halliday's 96 point view. The first bottle I opened had a problem as it was cloudy and had a barnyard funk going on. Bottle 2, happily, is an inviting bright cranberry colour with tart acidity and a mouthful of cherries and red berries. Lacks the complexity of more expensive Italian nebbiolos I've consumed, but at $24, this is a fine value Aussie offering. Update: 2 hours since I posted and this wine keeps getting better. Great pairing with a capricciosa pizza.
