Community Tasting Notes 4

May 7, 2019 - Mature, or just past peak maturity. Very caramel and butterscotch, but unlike the previous bottle, this did not feel tired, nor was it blowsy. The structure of the wine was still intact, and offered coherence to the developed and sweet flavours. Finish dry. Its complexity lifts the score of the wine for me.

March 24, 2018 - Feels quite aged, compared to last year. Very butterscotch, but (unfortunately), quite tinned peas in character. There is a sage character to the nose, as well. In the mouth, this is true to its terroir, in that it is quite acid. Considering the evolved character of the wine, the bright acid feel slightly out of place. Not oxidised, but certainly veering towards the tired side. Currently out of balance, and I doubt it will find equilibrium with age. Disappointing.

February 22, 2017 - A point and in early maturity. Satin texture, mineral, as well as a touch of So2. Beautiful fruit, completely integrated oak, very true to its terroir, but the acid comes across as very supple. Defined and complex - certainly outstanding.

July 13, 2014 - Excellent chardonnay, very much in the Marlborough mold. Bright acids, big oak handling, still quite tight. Excellent fruit quality but very much unevolved at the moment. This should improve with a few years in the bottle. 88+
