June 5, 2022 - Sunday Lunch - Greg & Sayo with friends (The Conservatory, Crown Wine Cellars, 18 Deep Water Bay Drive, Shouson Hill, Hong Kong): Several bottles amongst 16 of us. Lovely light green-gold colour. The nose has a light lemon oil and a kiss of oak. Palate is absolutely gorgeous. Lovely confit lemon. Long time ahead of it but absolutely gorgeous and light Italian expression of Chardonnay right now. On reflection, why wait?

January 3, 2021 - early maturity. rounded and fresh with nice lychee, melon, peach fruit. some toasty nutty quality. reminds me of honey nectar. some oak. the best quality is that this isnt overdone or over the top and is well balanced. oozing quality. finishes long long long. very good

June 6, 2020 - We cherish our Burgundian and Cali #chardonnay treasures. Yet, we passionately state without reservation that the 2012 Gaja Gaia & Rey may just top the list. Straw on the eye neither inspiring nor off-putting...Sunday school teacher. Fade to next scene: Oooweebaby, we get to the nose. Rich with hints of toast, vanilla, oak, butter, soft talcum powder, violet perfume. Luscious, vivacious. Lingering, loving, thin fingers stroking your nostrils in a seductive manner. You simply do not want the aroma to stop and the flavors to begin...yeah, right 😉! Enthusiastically galloping to scene three: Kapow, Batman, the flavors begin. Full body with concentrated, ripe fruit, balanced by a lively acidity, pear, peach, apple. honey, minerals, smoked ham ( 🤷‍♂️), candied green apples, burnt butter, honey slathered on the tongue and upper palate. Long, never want it to end finish. Ridiculous!!! The aromas engender fears and longings of the Sirens of Greek Mythology while the flavors encourage you never, ever to stop sipping this beyond heavenly nectar of the Chardonnay deity.

February 10, 2018 - Lovely and harmonious yellow fruits, mostly. Fine oaky notes. Nice concentration. Not the most complex. Really well dressed though. 92+

April 19, 2017 - Stunner from A to Z. Every element of a perfect Burgundy or Napa chardonnay steps up to the plate and belts a slam or six, depending on your preference for baseball or cricket, respectively. Wow, wow, wow! Sipping young is exciting, arguably sexy, as the fruit steps slightly above the toasty oak, vanilla cream and acidity. A few more years for perfect balance, but we really enjoyed this vivacious lil dahlin'!
